Harbor Village Pumpkin Festival: More Info
Parking
There will be parking at the south end of Main Street near Highway, Half Moon Bay High School (Main St. just north of Hwy. 92), and at the Community Center/Shoreline Station complex, located just north of Kelly Avenue on Highway 1. Many of these parking areas are operated by local non-profit groups who charge a nominal parking fee. There is also limited free parking on several side streets.Handicapped Parking
There will be specially marked handicapped parking on Purissima Street between Correas Street and Kelly Avenue.Street Closures
Main Street will be closed to traffic from Mill Street south to Monte Vista Lane throughout festival weekend. Southbound Main Street will not be accessible from Highway 92 from 8 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and Sunday. Main Street will re-open at approximately 9 PM on Sunday. Departing town, Highway 92 eastbound will not be accessible from Main Street (either from the north or the south). The only way to go eastbound on Highway 92 is from Highway 1.First Aid/Lost & Found

The Community United Methodist Church will be hosting the “Rest Your Wear Soles” Diaper Changing/Rest Area. The church is located at the corner of Miramontes and Johnston Streets, one block east of Main Street.No Pets, Please
The City of Half Moon Bay will be enforcing its ordinance prohibiting pets on the festival grounds. For the safety, comfort, and courtesy of your pets and festival-goers, please leave your pets at home. Large crowds make it a very stressful and dangerous environment for pets.Dates/Hours/Directions
The free-admission festival will be held on October 13-14 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Main Street between Miramontes and Spruce Streets in Half Moon Bay. Handcrafted in Half Moon Bay
Local couple collaborates on craft of jewelry making.
Half Moon Bay resident Thomas Goodson has been creating sterling silver jewelry for the last ten years. Thom studied ironwork at Salem College in West Virginia in the late '70s and worked as the Village Smithy at Fort New Salem from 1977 to 1980. With a degree in chemistry, Thom laid his hammer down and went to work in the pharmaceutical industry, but the love of working with metal never left him. Thom met his wife, Jane Lewis, and moved to San Diego, California, in 1996. There he taught himself jewelry making, using the old blacksmithing skills, and seeking new skills through books and mentors.
In 2008, Thom joined an emerging pharmaceutical company, Pearl Therapeutics, in Redwood City. He chose Half Moon Bay as his new home, and Jane joined him in 2009, after retiring from a teaching career in San Diego City Schools. When Thom decided to participate in the Pumpkin Festival, Jane began designing beaded pieces to fill out their selection of jewelry art.
Thom often designs his jewelry pieces while chatting with Jane over dinner. He then disappears into his shop and brings the design sketch to life. In addition to her collaboration with beadwork, Jane photographs their creations, and maintains the Goodson Silver website. She has also become acquainted with other local artists and maintains the Coastside Artists web page to provide a directory of local artists and promote their showings and events.
Thom and Jane have presented their work at the Pumpkin Festival, the Project Knew Groove Art and Music festivals, and at the Coastal Arts League Gallery. They will be participating in the Land & Sea Farmers Market at Harbor Village on April 22, and will also participate, for a second year, in the Colony of Coastside Artists (CoCA) Open Studios event on May 5 and 6.

Pumpkins by the Pier at Harbor Village

Starting in October Harbor Village will have pumpkins, family events, fundraisers, and much much more going on at Harbor Village mall located in Princeton by the sea off of Capistrano road. The month of October Harbor Village plans to sell pumpkins 7 days a week, and have festive weekends that include Jumpers for Kids, face painting, kite flying, costume contests, coloring, food, sales, specials by the merchants, music, and much more. Also look for updates on pie eating competitions and pumpkin carving competitions. The area itself is a destination and this will just add to a great day in the Harbor of Half Moon Bay.
